Jalan Kebon Bawang IX Disulap Lebih Bersih dan Ramah Anak

Featured Area Upgrade Completed on Jalan Kebon Bawang IX

The featured area on Jalan Kebon Bawang IX, RT 14/01, Kebon Bawang Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district, North Jakarta, has been upgraded. The once rundown site is now clean, orderly, and child-friendly.

Adding both educational value and a sense of fun to the neighborhood

Acting Kebon Bawang Urban Village Head Febrio Eka Putra said the upgrade covered a 20-meter stretch with a width of three meters.

Arrangement of Jalan Kartini XIII is Now Complete

He noted that the area had previously been used for illegal dumping and cart parking, leaving it dirty and disorganized, with walls covered in vandalism.

"There is a madrasah and a PAUD nearby, so the condition made children and parents feel uncomfortable when passing through," he said on Thursday (4/16).

Febrio explained that the project carries the theme “Keep Jakarta Clean,” combining aesthetic improvements with environmental functions.

The work included planting ornamental plants, cleaning drainage channels, and painting walls with murals depicting landscapes, ondel-ondel, and Betawi traditional houses. The walls also feature messages encouraging residents to keep the area clean.

"The area along the road is also equipped with traditional game illustrations that children can use as they pass, adding both educational value and a sense of fun to the neighborhood," he highlighted.

The project began in early February, deploying at least seven Orange Task Force personnel daily, with support from the Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency, City Parks and Forestry Sub-agency, Environmental (LH) Sub-agency, and other cross-sector units.

Febrio expressed hope that the upgrade will promote public awareness of keeping the environment clean, while urging residents to stop littering and help maintain the facilities.

"A clean and well-maintained environment will create comfort and better health for all," he stressed.

Meanwhile, a local resident, Endang, 50, welcomed the upgrade, saying the area is now more orderly and visually appealing.

"It's now cleaner, more beautiful, and more orderly. It should not become dirty again, as this is for the benefit of all residents," she said.
